Introduction

The Z-Wave protocol is an interoperable, wireless, RF-based communications technology designed specifically for control, monitoring and status reporting applications in home automation or IOT. By far Z-Wave is the world’s market leader in wireless control, secure, reliable and easy-to-use 'smart' products. The products from different vendors and product categories (smart bulbs, sensors, sirens, smart switches, smart locks, security and Home automation etc.) can be a part of the same network.

In this network, all “listening” nodes act as message repeaters regardless of vendor. The connected controller(gateway) communicates with sensors & control devices over Z-Wave network and it doesn’t require an active internet connection to control the sensors and other devices in the network. This product can be operated with Z-Wave certified devices from preferred and other manufacturers.

Seamless Edge and Cloud Connectivity

FAQs

What is Z Wave?

It is a type of wireless protocol used for talking to home devices. This is a well-developed ecosystem, producing some of the cheapest and best devices. Zwave is a wireless technology that will not interfere with your Wi-Fi signal and operates on low power. Tantiv4's gateway enables these devices for an Internet-based operation in a user-friendly manner.

Can I buy off-the-shelf Z wave devices and integrate them with the Tantiv4 Gateway?

Tantiv4 Gateway is Z Wave Certified and can talk to any Z Wave Certified device. All the certified devices have the Z wave logo on them.

What is Z-Wave's range?

While Z-Wave has a range of 100 meters or 328 feet in open air, building materials reduce that range. The more line powered devices in your Z-Wave network, the better, as they also act as repeaters to extend the Z-Wave signal. Z-Wave’s mesh networking allows a Z-Wave signal to “hop” through other Z-Wave products to reach the destination device to be controlled.

How is Z-Wave powered?

Z-Wave is a very efficient, low-energy technology. While the Tantiv4 Zwave hub will need to be plugged in to keep the network up and running, many Z-Wave devices work on battery power alone, often for a year or more before needing new batteries.

How many Z-Wave devices can I control?

Z-Wave is a highly scalable technology – it can control anywhere from one device all the way up to 232 devices .

What are the command classes supported?

50+ Command Classes are supported. Supports most of devices in real world DEEPLY Integrated within app and gateway

What are the security protocols supported?

All variations of S2. Server Side Authorised, for device with QRCode label. Client Side Authorised for devices with Input Pad. Z-Wave 1st & 2nd generations QRCode Support
